Did Christ Rise?
By Ben LaCorte, Creation Tours
I’ve got a question for you. What would it take for you to stop being a Christian?
Hold on! Before you reach for that button, think about this. The apostle Paul said that if Christ was not raised, then our faith is wasted and we are of all men most to be pitied. 1 Cor. 15:12-19. How could he get away with such a fantastic claim? Easy. He knew his faith was not vapor ware. He knew it was based on the fact that his Lord had indeed been raised from the dead. You see, Christ appeared to Paul personally.
We ought to have that same conviction when we’re called upon to defend the truth of the resurrection. Here’s why. We know secular scholars today live to cast doubt on the Bible. Yet even they concede that Paul is a credible source. Why? Because they recognize Paul as a fellow scholar, a learned man. PhD of his day. And here’s what this educated 1st century theologian said to the Corinthian church. Quote: “For I delivered to you what I also received, that Christ was raised on the third day”. Where did Paul get this message? Directly from the risen Lord.
As Paul said: “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught.” Stand firm then church, because our faith rests on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the greatest event in human history. An event that was documented by a credible witness, the apostle Paul.
